Eden MacAdam-Somer earned her Bachelors and Masters of Musical Performance from the University of Houston and Rice University, where she studied with world-renowned musicians and pedagogues, Fredell Lack and Kenneth Goldsmith. Under their guidance she studied traditional methods of teaching and is now also a Suzuki certified violin teacher.

As a teacher and performer Eden combines musicality with strong technique, enabling students to play with comfort and ease. With all students she encourages learning to read music and learning by ear and incorporates music theory and history in the lessons. Ms. MacAdam-Somer believes that music enables children to develop discipline as well as creativity and she creates programs for each pupil to encourage such development. Eden also enjoys coaching chamber music, preparing young musicians for auditions, and tutoring in sight-reading and practice techniques. She is adept at helping musicians with tension problems and teaching classical musicians improvisation and fiddling techniques.

Ms. MacAdam-Somer has helped to develop string and piano programs for inner-city children at various schools, organized the first class of Suzuki violinists at the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory School of Music, and is the founder of the Branard Street Strings, the youngest professional string quartet in the Houston area. She has given fiddling demonstrations at numerous schools and workshops and spent several years teaching string improvisation at Houston Community College as one of the school's youngest faculty members. She now maintains studios privately and at the South Shore Conservatory.

Eden teaches both classical and fiddling styles to students of all ages and abilities, and bases lessons on the needs and desires of each student.
